What is it?

Great teamwork means mastering a whole range of different “soft” skills – everything from active listening, to giving feedback to setting powerful goals. The Team Gym is a fun and interactive way to give your group the chance to work on a range of skills as they rotate around different activities – each of which is designed to focus on a specific aspect of great teamwork.

Tailored to your team’s needs

A Wild Thinking facilitator will discuss the activity with you before the day and agree on the key development themes that you would like to focus on. We will then tailor the activity to focus specifically on these key areas.

How does it work?

Depending on the size of the group and the duration of the event, we can include anything between 3 and 10 different activities. Each activity is good fun and designed to highlight different aspects of great teamwork. Options include:

  • The Maze – Finding the secret path to being a great team
  • Communicate – It is all about good listening
  • Complexity – Getting organised
  • Pipelines – Rolling communication
  • Floating stick – One hand doesn’t know what the other hand is doing
  • The Tower of Power – Lifting performance to new heights
  • Spiders Web – Teamwork through thick and thin
  • Scoop – Its all about cooperation

As the group completes each activity, they will review their experience and agree on what they have learned before moving on to the next challenge.

Fun with a purpose

Team Gym is then reviewed to see what the participants learned about teamwork, communications, planning and to explore how they can take these insights back to their working environment.

  • Understanding how sub-teams contribute to overall team goals
  • Improved communication between team members and other teams
  • Building team spirit through a powerful shared experience
  • Encouraging sub-teams to identify with the whole group
  • Transferring learning into tangible opportunities to improve workplace performance
  • Understanding individual styles and helping team members play to their strengths
